SPECIAL FEATURES OF UPVC RIBBED SCREENS

Ribbed screens have continuous ribbed section on the outside surface. The area with ribs keep granulated soil (Gravel Pack ) away from the slots and increases the permeability rating to more than double when compared with plain surfaced screens, the slot openings are obstructed by more than 50% due to the gravel getting packed right on the slots. The high rounded ribs on screens prevent direct contact of gravel with the screens in the slotted area and it is this which provides excellent hydraulic properties to ribbed screens. The ribs also contribute to increase the strength of the screen.

Ribbed screens are manufactured in accordance with IS12818-1192 and DIN 4925, slots are arranged in horizontal to the axis of pipes. This offers superior flow properties, it has to change direction to enter a vertically slotted pipe and this affects the free flow of water into the well. Hence the horizontal slots achieve high permeability.
